The Crims Chapel Volunteer Fire Department was chartered in 1989 and covers 60 square miles in the north eastern sector of Rusk County. The department received their non-profit 501©3 status in 2001 and has successfully applied for and received over $500,000.00 in grant funding including one of the first USDA apparatus grants in Rusk County.
The department is currently under the leadership of Chief Marvin Vinson and has 8 active firefighting volunteers most of whom are certified fire fighters. The department houses 5 emergency vehicles which include a new pumper/engine and quick-attack response truck. The department received the first new water tender in the county in September of 2017.
The department participates in the annual Syrup Festival held in Henderson every November and raffles off a gun each year between November and December. The Department responds with mutual aid with the Overton VFD, New London VFD, Henderson FD, Kilgore FD and Elderville-Lakeport VFD.
The department is located on County Road 241 E and meets the second Monday of every month.
