The Eastside Volunteer Fire Department was formed in 1990 and is proud to have served Rusk County for over 33 years. The department primarily serves the Minden, Pine Hill and Brachfield areas from the end of FM 840 back to the city limits of Henderson covering about 75 square miles in Southeastern Rusk County.
The department is operating under new leadership. Officers for 2024 are Chief Jeremy Bozeman, Assistant Chief Jeremy Simmons, and Captain Brian Besson.
The department meets for training on the 1st and 2nd Tuesday of every month at their station, located on FM 840 east near the Brachfield Corner at FM 1798. The address of our station is 11418 FM 840 E, Henderson, TX 75654
The department currently has 13 members, many of whom are certified firefighters and EMS certified. They respond to fires, medical calls, motor vehicle collisions, traffic control assistance, and other public service calls. We mutual aid primarily with the Mount Enterprise VFD, Church Hill VFD, Laneville VFD, Clayton VFD, and Henderson Fire Department . The department underwent an expansion in 2019 and added 2 new bays, new paved parking, and a remodeled facade on the front of the building which houses six vehicles. One pumper/engine, three brush trucks, one water tender, and one hybrid wet rescue truck that is currently being built.
Come by and visit – we’re always ready to welcome the residents of the county and are taking applications for volunteers for firefighting and support operations.
