The Eastside Volunteer Fire Department was formed in 1990 and is proud to have served Rusk County for the past 29 years. The department primarily serves the Minden, Pine Hill and Brachfield areas from the end of FM 840 back to the city limits of Henderson covering about 75 square miles in Southeastern Rusk County.
The department is currently under the leadership of Chief Don Reynolds. The department meets on the 1st and 2nd Tuesday of every month at their station located on FM 840 E near Brachfield Corner and FM 1798. (11418 FM 840 E) The Department currently has 12 members many of whom are certified firefighters and EMT certified. They respond to fire, medical, traffic and public safety calls and mutual aid primarily with the Mt. Enterprise, Church Hill and Laneville Volunteer Fire Departments.
The department houses 6 vehicles that include a brand new pumper/engine, 3 brush trucks – one of which is new, a tanker and their original pumper/engine. The department underwent an expansion last year and added 2 new bays, new paved parking, and a remodeled facade on the front of the building.
