The Reklaw Volunteer Fire Department was first formed in 1990 and serves small portions of both Cherokee and Rusk County. The department currently has 10 members, 2 of which are medical first responders. The department also has a volunteer Board of Trustees that is comprised of Jim Holloway, President; Bob Nations, Board Member, and Justin Duke, Board Member.
The department houses 2 brush trucks (one serves as a first responder unit also), a water tender and a pumper/engine. The unit is currently under the leadership of Chief Francisco Hernandez, Assistant Chief Paul Patterson, and Secretary Judy Ritter. The Department holds a monthly business meeting on the second Monday of every month at 5:30 p.m.
